John Lennon
A true Renaissance man, John Lennon, born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England, shaped contemporary sensibilities through his insights and perspectives.
Despite being primarily renowned for his musical prowess,Lennon’s artistic journey began before his musical endeavors. Line drawing in pen, pencil, or Japanese sumi ink was his primary medium. Illustrations from his drawings adorned three bestselling books, solidifying his status as both a writer and visual artist.
The Bag One series, initiated in 1969 as a wedding gift, showcased Lennon’s drawings chronicling his wedding, honeymoon, and passionate plea for world peace during the bed-in. A complete suite of the Bag One portfolio resides in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The original series of John Lennon production was published by “Marigold Enterprises’ ‘ with Gordon Novac Lithographers, Canada and marked with the John Lennon, Yoko “Red Chop” stamp. After the final editions were celebrated by Dyansen Galleries in New York, Marigold and Yoko traveled on an international tour of exhibitions celebrating the works.
