PETER MAX (b.1937)

Peter Max is a German-American artist known for his vibrant, psychedelic paintings and prints. He was born in Germany and moved to New York in 1953. He worked as a graphic designer and produced Peter Max artwork for ad campaigns and band posters in the 1960s. His works are associated with the visual arts and culture of the 1960s, particularly psychedelic art and pop art. Throughout the 1980s, Marilyn Goldberg of Museum Masters worked with Max to produce and release signed limited edition lithographs for international exhibitions. Many of these Peter Max paintings were featured at the 1989 Peter Max exhibit, which opened the Garett Stephens Gallery in Southampton, NY.
